<p>The Rote Knopf is the second highest mountain in the Schober Group within the High Tauern in the Austrian Alps. It is only two metres short of the Petzeck, the highest summit in the Schober. Nevertheless, this peak is far less well known that the Hochschober or the Glödis. This is probably because the mountain is not visible from the valleys of the Kalser Tal or the anterior Debanttal.</p><br>
<p>The easiest ascent runs from the Elberfelder Hut following the waymarking southwards before turning west and running along the southeastern arête to the summit. This climb not only requires sure-footedness, but also exposed, albeit not difficult, climbing at grade I. From the summit, Austria&#39;s highest mountain, the Großglockner, may be seen prominently to the north.</p><br>

<p>The Wilde Leck is a mountain, in the Stubai Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It rises immediately west of the Sulztalferner glacier and towers above the Ötztal valley, 5.5 km northwest of Sölden.</p><br>
<p>It has a rocky summit made of solid granite and prominent arêtes. In the Stubai Alps the Wilde Leck is one of the most difficult summits to climb, because its easiest route runs initially over glaciers and then up a rock face that is assessed as climbing grade III (UIAA).</p><br>

<p>The Pics de la Font Sancte is a mountain with two summits between the upper Ubaye Valley, Val Escreins and the Ceillac Valley, at the edge of the Queyras Regional Park. It is the highest peak of the Escreins Massif in the southern Cottian Alps in Hautes-Alpes, France. Its northern summit is 3,385 m high and its south summit 3,371 m. They take their name from the Font Sancte, a source that springs from the rock in the valley at the foot of the peaks at 2,358 m.</p><br>
<p>The northern peak is climbed mostly from the west. The maximum slope is around 40° in the narrowest part of a corridor. It is recommended to climb it when it is snow-covered, so as to minimize the risk of falling rocks from the corridor, but also from the wall of the south peak. It then comes down to mountaineering. After the corridor has been climbed, access to the summit is possible for very good hikers. There is a big risk of rockfall on the mountain.</p><br>

<p>Eugene Wilson Hodges Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses four contributing buildings, one contributing site, and five contributing structures in rural Mecklenburg County. The Eugene Wilson Hodges House was built about 1908, and is a two-story, three-bay I-house with two parallel one-story rear ells. It has a slate triple-A roof and two exterior, stuccoed-brick chimneys. It features a vernacular Colonial Revival hip roofed wraparound front porch with Doric order columns. Other contributing resources include two chicken coops , a wellhouse , barn , two granaries , two silos , and the agricultural landscape.</p><br>
<p>It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.</p><br>
<p>Albert McCoy Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses two contributing buildings, one contributing site, and five contributing structures in rural Mecklenburg County. The farmhouse was built about 1886, and is a two-story, timber frame, side-gable-and-wing dwelling with vernacular Queen Anne style design elements. It has a shallow cross gable roof, weatherboard siding, and three brick chimneys. It features a pedimatnted gable front porch. Other contributing resources include an arbor, a log corn crib, a wellhouse, a smokehouse, a privy, pumphouse, and the agricultural landscape.</p><br>
<p>It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.</p><br>
<p>The Nordhelle between Reblin and Valbert in the county of Märkischer Kreis in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is the highest peak in the Ebbe Mountains and in Märkischer Kreise. At the summit is the Nordhelle Transmitter and a viewing tower, the Robert Kolb Tower.</p><br>

<p>The Nordhelle rises in the western Sauerland roughly in the centre of the Ebbe highlands and within the Ebbe Mountain Nature Park – in the municipal area of Herscheid in the borough of Meinerzhagen. Its summit lies about 200 metres north of the boundary between Herscheid and its parish of Reblin to the north and Meinerzhagen with its quarter of Valbert in the south, this boundary reaching a maximum height of about. Höhe Whilst the summit area and the northern parts of the mountain belong to the municipality of Herscheid, the southern area belongs to the parish of Valbert. To the east-southeast of the Nordhelle is a subpeak, the Waldberg (ca. ) and its south-southwestern neighbour is the Große Hahn.</p><br>
<h3>Natural regions</h3><br>
<p>The Nordhelle belongs to the natural regional major unit group of Süderbergland (No. 33), the major unit of the South Sauerland Highland (3362), its subdivision, the Ebbe-Homert-Schwelle (3362.0–3), its sub-unit, the Ebbe Mountains (3362.0) and the natural region of Hohes Ebbe (3362.00).</p><br>
<h3>Rivers and streams</h3><br>
<p>Somewhat to the northwest of the Nordhelle is the source of the Oester (Ebbebach), which passes the mountain to the north before collecting the Erlmecke – a tributary rising east of the summit where the mountain transitions to the Waldberg – near Emmeszaun (Herscheid). Roughly southwest of the Nordhelle in the transition area with the Großer Hahn rises the Ihne tributary of the Schmale Becke (Homberger Bach).</p><br>

<h2>Towers</h2><br>
<h3>Transmission towers</h3><br>
<p>There are two transmission towers on the summit region of the Nordhelle: the 130-metre-high WDR tower of the Nordhelle Transmitter and, roughly 215 metres northeast of it, a Bundeswehr communication tower, which is made of reinforced concrete and used for mobile telephony. About 1.2 km east-southeast of the mountaintop on an neighbouring mountain, the Waldberg, stands the Ebbegebirge Communication Tower, which was called the Lüdenscheid Transmitter until the introduction of DVB-T.</p><br>
<p>At, the Großer Farmdenkopf is the highest peak in the Thuringian Highland. It is situated in the county of Sonneberg in the German state of Thuringia.</p><br>
<h2>Location</h2><br>
<p>The Großer Farmdenkopf is the highest point of the Wurzelberg massif in the northwest of the county of Sonneberg southeast of Goldisthal, which lies in the deeply incised Schwarza valley, and northwest of nearby Scheibe-Alsbach, which is a little further away and sprawls out above the river in the same valley. The whole of the massif lies north of the Rennsteig and thus in the Northern High Slate Mountains (Nördlichen Hohen Schiefergebirge).</p><br>
<h2>Isolation and prominence</h2><br>
<p>With a topographic isolation of over 20 kilometres, the Großer Farmdenkopf is one of the most dominant mountains in Thuringia. Only the Großer Finsterberg (944 m), 21.3 km away, the Großer Eisenberg (907 m) and Neuhäuser Hügel (892 m), 21.8 km away to the northwest, are higher.</p><br>
<p>In order to reach the Finsterberg, one must descend to a height of at least about 698 metres, which gives a topographic prominence of 171 metres. The col is immediately next to the Schwalbenhaupt in the extreme northeast of the highland near its boundary with the Central Thuringian Forest, at the crossroads of the Landesstraße from Masserberg to Neustadt, near the Rennsteig, and the one crossing the ridge and running from Gießübel to Oelze.</p><br>
<h2>Goldisthal Pumped Storage Station</h2><br>
<p>The appearance of the Großer Farmdenkopf from a distance is mainly characterised by the upper basin of the Goldisthal Pumped Storage Station, built on the top of the mountain. Only the tips of the trees on the summit are higher than the dykes of the basin.</p><br>
<h2>Hiking and viewing points</h2><br>
<p>From the Großer Farmdenkopf there is a unique all-round view of the Thurigian Highland and Thuringian Forest. The numerous viewing points may be visited on a 360 degree circular walk around the upper basin of the Goldisthal Pumped Storage Station; a full circuit requires the negotiation of several hundred metres along a very narrow ridge.</p><br>
<p>Amongst the other mountains visible from the summit are the Großer Gleichberg (, ein Inselberg), Adlersberg, Großer Eisenberg, Großer Finsterberg, Schneekopf, Großer Beerberg, Kickelhahn, Kieferle, Dürre Fichte, Bleßberg (, with its transmission site and viewing tower) and Eselsberg (, Rennsteigwarte) as well as e.g. the mountain villages of Neustadt am Rennsteig, Masserberg and Neuhaus am Rennweg.</p><br>
<p>At, the Čerchov  is the highest mountain in the Upper Palatine Forest  and the northern summit of the Bohemian Forest. It lies ca. 2 km from the German-Czech border, roughly in the middle of a triangle formed by the villages of Waldmünchen, Furth im Wald and Domažlice.</p><br>
<p>After its use by the Wehrmacht in the Second World War the summit was intensively used by the Warsaw Pact until the 1990s as a surveillance station and was placed out of bounds to the public. In addition to the observation tower erected in 1904 by Vilém Kurz and known as the Kurz Tower, a second, larger tower was built in 1987 by the Czechoslovak Army which is used today for flight safety purposes and is not accessible. The corresponding NATO communication station was located on the Hoher Bogen about 20 km away to the southeast. Other surveillance posts were sited inter alia on the Velký Zvon (German: Plattenberg, with a tower of very similar design built in 1978 and which had line-of-sight to the Čerchov site) and the Dyleň. As well as the Soviet Army the site was also used by Hauptabteilung III of the East German Stasi as a listening post (codenamed RUBIN). Following the opening of the border and reunification of Germany the listening posts were closed and from July 2000 the Kurz Tower has been accessible once more. The mountain offers an all-round view of the Bavarian Forest and the Czech Plain. In good weather conditions, the Alps may be seen. There is an amateur radio on the mountain.</p><br>
<p>The Kansas City Southern Railway Locomotive No. 73D and Caboose No. 385 are historic railroad equipment located near Arkansas Highway 59 and Church Street in Decatur, Arkansas. The locomotive is an EMD F7A built in 1950, and used in service by the Kansas City Southern Railway until 1991, although it was converted to a slug unit sometime in the 1970s and the body was filled with concrete and old wheels. The caboose was built in 1952 by the Louisiana and Arkansas Railroad, a division of Kansas City Southern, and used in service until 1991. Both were purchased in 1991 by Peterson Farms, restored, and placed on display near the Kansas City-Southern Depot old Kansas CIty-Southern Depot in Decatur.</p><br>
<p>The locomotive and caboose were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.</p><br>
<p>The Colbert County Courthouse Square Historic District is a historic district in Tuscumbia, Alabama. It contains 22 buildings centered on the Colbert County Courthouse. The courthouse was built in 1881, but heavily damaged by fire in 1908. In the restoration, porticos were added to each side, each with four Ionic columns. The west and north porticoes have since been removed to make way for expansion wings. A clock tower was also added after the 1908 fire. On the east side of the courthouse, across Main Street, are the First Methodist Church , the Clark Building , and the Abernathy House. Single houses, now all used as law offices, mixed with modern infill face the courthouse on its other sides; the Godley House to the north was built in 1839, the Womble House to the west was built in the 1890s, and the Dirago House to the south was built in 1912.</p><br>
<p>Away from the courthouse square, the most significant structures are a group of seven buildings on 5th Street known collectively as Commercial Row. The buildings were constructed in the 1840s, and have served as the commercial hub of Tuscumbia. One block west of Commercial Row is the Railway Depot. The Tuscumbia Railroad Company was chartered in 1830 and had extended their line to Decatur by 1834. The Victorian depot was built in 1888 to replace a former frame structure, and given to the city in 1948. Other buildings in the district include the First Presbyterian Church (built 1824), St. John&#39;s Episcopal Church (built 1852), First Baptist Church (built 1903), and the Julian House (built in Cherokee and moved to Tuscumbia in the 1850s).</p><br>
<p>The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.</p><br>
<p>Weathercote Cave is a natural solutional cave in Chapel-le-Dale, North Yorkshire, England. It has been renowned as a natural curiosity since the eighteenth century, and was accessible to paying visitors until 1971. The entrance is a large shaft about 20 m deep, dominated by a waterfall entering at one end. It lies within the designated Ingleborough Site of Special Scientific Interest.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>The entrance lies in the floor of the Chapel-le-Dale valley below the Hill Inn, and is enclosed by a substantial wall. A path leads from a doorway in the wall to the open shaft, some 61 m long and up to 15 m wide. The underground Winterscales Beck emerges from a passage at the north end, and falls some 20 m down the shaft. The top of the waterfall is overhung by a massive wedged boulder known as Mohammed&#39;s Coffin. At the near end of the shaft, a flight of 51 steps descends beneath a natural rock arch, to the bottom, where a number of short passage all lead to sumps, the main one of which has been connected to Jingle Pot, another daylight shaft located 140 m down the valley, and thence to Hurtle Pot, a further 200 m down the valley. The total length of explored passages in the combined system is 2,370 m, and the total depth is 64 m. The water can be followed upstream of the waterfall through a series of low aqueous passages and small chambers. When the beck is in full spate, the shaft can fill to the top, and overflow down the valley.</p><br>
<h2>Geology and hydrology</h2><br>
<p>Weathercote Cave is formed in Lower Carboniferous limestone, and is part of the underground watercourse of Winterscales Beck. Winterscales Beck sinks at Haws Gill Wheel, about 1,000 m upstream of Weathercote Cave, and flows through a shallow and largely flooded cave system. When the river reached a major cross joint at Weathercote, it descended to base level. The roof has since collapsed to form the surface shaft. The underground stream flows through the base of two other surface shafts, Jingle Pot and Hurtle Pot, before resurging at God&#39;s Bridge, 1,300 m down the valley. The connection between two of the caves was confirmed in 1770, when a bonnet lost by a woman in Weathercote Cave was later retrieved from Hurtle Pot.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Weathercote Cave was first described in detail by Richard Pococke who undertook a tour of Yorkshire in 1751. He said that it was "one of the most extraordinary and scenes I have ever beheld". It was drawn to the publics attention in 1780 by John Hutton in an appendix to Thomas Wests "A Guide to the Lakes", who described it as "the most surprising natural curiosity in the island of Great Britain". Thereafter, it became a destination for those seeking the picturesque, and is featured in most later guide books of the area. J.M.W. Turner visited the cave in 1808, and made a number of sketches and painted a view from the bottom, and in 1816 he returned when he painted the view from the top when the river was in spate. In 1818, William Westall produced a book of aquatinted engraved views of Yorkshire which included five views of Weathercote Cave. In 1835, Wordsworth described it as a "fine object". By 1858 at the latest, tourists were paying for the privilege of visiting the site, and in 1875 John Ruskin described it as "the rottenest — deadliest— loveliest — horriblest place I ever saw in my life". In 1971, John Fellows, a visiting caver, died after being struck by a falling rock, and since then access has been restricted. The underwater connection with Jingle Pot was made in April 1986 by members of the Cave Diving Group.</p><br>
<p>The Große Bärenkopf  or Weißer Bärenkopf  is a twin-topped mountain in the Glockner Group in the Fuscher/Kapruner Kamm of the High Tauern, a range in the Austrian Central Alps. The mountain lies exactly on the border between the states of Salzburg and Carinthia.</p><br>
<p>The main summit is metres high; the west summit reaches a height of. The two peaks are about 300 metres away from one another. There are arêtes running away from the top in all four direction of the compass. Seen from the northeast, the Großer Bärenkopf, has the shape of a wide, prominent, firn- covered mountain. From the other directions it looks like a rocky peak.</p><br>
<p>The mountain was first climbed on 18 September 1869 by Munich Alpinists Karl Hofmann, Prague merchant, Johann Stüdl, and mountain guides Thomas Groder and Josef Schnell from Kals am Großglockner on their exploratory tour, that took them on the same day to the neighbouring peaks of the Hinterer Bratschenkopf and Klockerin to the north. Today the Großer Bärenkopf is often climbed during a crossing from the Oberwalder Hut and the Heinrich Schwaiger Haus.</p><br>
<h2>Location and area</h2><br>
<p>The Großer Bärenkopf is surrounded by heavily crevassed glaciers. To the east, north and west lie the western and eastern Bärenkopfkees, which climb up to the summit; to the south is the Bockkarkees. Neighbouring peaks are the 3,425-metre-high Klockerin on the line of the north arête and separated by the col of Gruberscharte at a height of 3,080 metres; and the Hohe Dock at 3,348 metres on the line of the east arête, separated by the col of Dockscharte at 3,234 metres. To the south, on the far side of the Bockkarkees, lies the 3,115-metre-high Breitkopf. Along the west arête, separated by the Keilscharte saddle (3,187 m), lies the Mittlere Bärenkopf ("Middle Bear&#39;s Head", 3,358 m) and roughly north of it the Schwarzköpfl with a height of 3,124 metres. The nearest significant settlements are Kaprun, about 9 kilometres as the crow flies to the north in the Pinzgau, and Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße, 11 kilometres to the northeast.</p><br>
<h2>Bases and tours</h2><br>
<p>The route taken by the Alpinists in 1869 ran "in the best possible, clear weather" from the Kaprun side up to a mountain which they thought was the Großer Bärenkopf. In fact, they were standing on an unknown peak which was still not shown on contemporary maps and was first named in 1891 as the Glockerin. They route then continued along the east arête to the peak known today as the "Großer Bärenkopf". They also climbed the Hinterer Bratschenkopf. For orientation they only had the 1859 Tauern map by Franz Keil which wsa very inaccurate, however, because Keil himself was not able to penetrate very far into the region. That they had been fortunate enough on 18 September to succeed in making three first ascents only became clear when the Alpine Club map was published in 1891 and, for the first time, clearly enabled the mountains to be allocated names.</p><br>
<p>Even today, the Großer Bärenkopf can only be reached as part of a serious high mountain tour with appropriate equipment and experience of glaciers. The present normal route was first used in 1871 and has proved to be the easiest climb. Possible bases for the tour include the Heinrich Schwaiger Haus at 2,802 metres, the Mooserbodens above it and to the east, or the Oberwalder Hut (2,973 m), northwest and above Franz Josefs Höhe. From the Oberwalder Hut the route runs in a northerly direction as a serious glacier trail across the Wasserfallwinkel and the Bockkarkees to the Keilscharte col, then heads east along the west arête to the summit of the Großer Bärenkopf. In the Gruberscharte col, in the north arête of the peak, lies a bothy at 3,100 metres with 9 emergency beds. From the hut the ascent takes about 3 hours according to the literature. The west arête requires gentle climbing at UIAA grade I. Since 1925 the south arête has also been used as an alternative route and is classified as UIAA grade II. Climbing routes used in 1925 by Hubert Peterka and Hans Majer up the southwest face are rarely used today due to the dangers involved.</p><br>

<p>Duvalls Range is a 708-acre land grant surveyed in 1672 sold by Mareen Duvalls brother John Duvall to John Dorsey in 1695. John Dorseys son Steven Boone Dorsey Jr. constructed the log structures on the slave plantation property. In 1792, portions of Duvalls Range and Vanity Mount were transferred from Philemon Dorsey to Dr. Charles Alexander Warfield.</p><br>
<p>The stucco-covered stone plantation house built around 1795 is two stories tall and three bays wide which is built around a log house and smoke house built in 1695.</p><br>
<p>By the 1970s, the property had been subdivided down to an 81-acre parcel and is currently a 72.8-acre agricultural zoned parcel.</p><br>
<p>Johnsons Woods  is a historic plantation house in Tuscumbia, Alabama. The house was built in 1837 on land purchased by George W. Carroll in 1828. A settler from Maryland, Carroll became the countys wealthiest planter by 1850. Between 1855 and 1860, he moved to Arkansas, selling his plantation to William Mahoon. Upon Mahoons death in 1869, the plantation passed to William A. Johnson, a former Tennessee River steamboat operator and Confederate Army soldier. In addition to farming, Johnson also revived his steamboat business, traded cotton in Memphis, and opened a mercantile business in Tuscumbia. After his death in 1891 and his wifes in 1905, the land passed to his son, John W. Johnson.</p><br>
<p>The Neoclassical house is L-shaped, and has a five-bay front façade. The double-height entry portico is supported by four narrow columns, with pilasters from the original, two-tiered portico which was removed in 1983. The portico is flanked by two sash windows on either side, two-over-two on the first floor and twelve-over-eight on the second. The double-paned door is surround by sidelights and a transom with diamond-shaped panes. The entry hall contains a staircase, and is flanked by a living room on one side and a dining room on the other. A side entry hall behind the dining room leads to the kitchen. A parlor was added behind the living room circa 1889, and a gabled room was added behind the kitchen circa 1904. Contributing outbuildings and structures include a smokehouse, plantation office, cotton shed, barn, corn crib, carriage house, commissary, animal shelter, and the cedar-lined entrance lane to the property.</p><br>
<p>The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.</p><br>
<p>The John Johnson House also known as The Green Onion is a historic residence near Leighton, Alabama. The house was built in the late 1820s by John Johnson, a settler from Mecklenburg County, Virginia, who lived in Middle Tennessee before coming to North Alabama. His son-in-law, Lewis Dillahunty, was one of the earliest settlers in the western Tennessee Valley, and convinced Johnson to move to the area. Johnson died in the early 1840s, and his son sold the house and 80 acres  out of the family. The house has been long occupied by tenant farmers, and is now part of the Leonard Preuitt estate.</p><br>
<p>The house is a -story Tidewater cottage. A single chimney sits in each gable end. The foundation rises 4 feet (1.2 m) above the ground and is laid in common bond, while above is foundation is laid in Flemish bond. The façade is three bays wide, with each door and window topped with a jack arch. Inside, a central hall separates two large rooms on each floor. A staircase in the hall connects the two floors.</p><br>
<p>The house was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.</p><br>
<p>The Malhamspitzen  are the four peaks of a mighty massif on the Maurerkamm, an Alpine mountain chain in the Venediger Group in Austria&#39;s High Tauern National Park. They rise south of the Reggentörl and are only separated from one another by small cols. The literature distinguishes them as follows:</p><br>

<h2>Location and area</h2><br>
<p>The Malhamspitzen are surrounded by glaciers. To the west of the north-south crest of the Malhamspitzen lies the Gubachkees, which drains into the River Isel; to the east, feeding the Maurerbach, are the Südliche Malhamkees (also: Böses Wandkees) and the lower-lying Nördliche Malhamkees which has melted drastically in recent years.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>The four peaks were first climbed on 12 July 1873 by Prague Alpinist, Victor Hecht, and mountain guide, Johann Außerhofer along the west side from the Clara Hut and over the Umbalgletscher glacier. At that time Hecht only distinguished four summits.</p><br>
<p>The route runs over the southern part of the Simonykees glacier from the Essener-Rostocker Hut and over the Reggentörl towards the west and continues over the expansive Umbalkees, then follows the Isel stream to the Clara Hut.</p><br>
<p>The Old Federal Building is a historic government building at Cushman Street and 3rd Avenue in Fairbanks, Alaska. When it was built in 1933, it was the most northern instance of concrete construction in the United States. It is a large building with three full-height floors and two smaller penthouse levels. The buildings Art Deco styling includes V-shaped grooves set in pilasters that separate columns of windows and aluminum panels. The grooves are repeated in concrete spandrels above the top row of windows. Interior decoration includes terrazzo flooring, copious use of marble in walls and floors, and a pressed copper ceiling in the courtroom. The building was designed by Washington, DC architect George N. Ray, and built by William "Mac" MacDonald, who also later built the Federal Building in Nome. It originally housed the federal court, post office, and other federal government offices, and the decision to locate it in Fairbanks was critical to the rise of the citys importance; it now houses private offices.</p><br>
<p>The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.</p><br>
<p>Turnip Rock is a small geological formation in Michigan. It is a stack located in Lake Huron, in shallow water a few meters offshore, near the rock called the Thumbnail which is the extreme tip of Pointe Aux Barques, a small peninsula in Pointe Aux Barques Township which in turn is the extreme tip of The Thumb, a large peninsula comprising several counties in eastern Michigan.</p><br>
<p>Turnip Rock has been severely undercut by wave action, has made it a minor attraction for viewing from watercraft, although it is privately owned and not open to the public. Port Austin, the nearest large community, is the usual base for kayaking trips to Turnip Rock. A concrete collar has been built around the base of Turnip Rock at the waterline to retard further undercutting.</p><br>
<p>Turnip Rock was one of twenty finalists in the 2013 "Seven Wonders of Michigan" contest sponsored by the Detroit Free Press and the Lansing State Journal, but wasn&#39;t selected as one of the final seven.</p><br>
<p>The Großer Geiger, formerly also called the Obersulzbacher Venediger and Heiliggeistkogel, is a mountain, in the Venediger Group in the main chain of the Central Tauern . This chain lies in the High Tauern, part of the Austrian Central Alps on the border between the Austrian states of Tyrol in the south and Salzburg in the north.</p><br>
<p>The mountain was given its present name in 1855 by the Austrian chemist and cartographer, Franz Keil. Because of its isolated situation the Großer Geiger has a significant dominance. With its distinctive, symmetric, pyramidal shape and its mighty northwest face which rises 350 metres above the Obersulzbachkees glacier at a gradient of 50°, it is the most prominent landmark in the entire Upper Sulzbach valley. Arêtes radiate from the summit in all four directions of the compass. The mountain is easy to reach and is thus a popular touring and climbing destination. It was first climbed on 20 August 1871 by the Alpinist, Richard Issler, and mountain guide, Michael Groder from the Johannis Hut to the south.</p><br>
<h2>Surrounding area</h2><br>
<p>The Großer Geiger is surrounded by glaciers, which reach a height of over 3,200 metres in places. To the north lies the Obersulzbachkees, to the east the Dorferkees, to the south and west is the Maurerkees. Its nearest peak is the Großvenediger, at 3,667 metres the highest mountain of the group, which lies to the northeast on the main chain of the Tauern, separated by the mountain pass of Obersulzbachtörl at a height of 2,921 metres. The only other significant neighbouring peaks are the three Maurerkeesköpfe (Kleiner- 3,205 m, Hinterer- 3,313 m and Mittlerer Maurerkeeskopf at 3,281 m) on the line of the western arête. The nearest sizeable settlement is the Tyrolean village of Hinterbichl near Prägraten 10 kilometres away as the crow flies in the Virgental valley. Sulzau in Salzburg&#39;s Pinzgau valley is 17 km away to the north.</p><br>
<h2>Bases and ascents</h2><br>
<p>The Großer Geiger can only be climbed by crossing glaciers as part of a high mountain tour. The route taken by the first climbers in 1871 ran from the south up to the summit. Their base was the Johannis Hut lying at 2,121 metres in the valley of the Upper Dorfertal. Their route initially followed the Dorferbach upstream to the middle of the very heavily crevassed Dorferkees at a height of about 2,700 metres and then swung west over firn at a gradient of 30° to the so-called Ostsporn (East Spur). They scaled this relatively difficult rock climbing route, today classed as UIAA climbing grade II, to the summit. This entailed negotiating some critical sections which almost led to a fall. The present normal route to the Großer Geiger runs either from the Essener-Rostocker Hut at 2,208 metres, heading in a northerly direction, or from the Kürsinger Hut (2,547 m) in a southerly direction up to the western arête (Geigerschartl col, 3,142 m) of the Geiger and then across its southwestern flank climbing over the firn to the summit cross. According to the literature this takes about 3½ to 4 hours from one of the huts. More demanding climbing routes, of UIAA grades III to IV, lead up the northwest face and along its flanking arêtes, some as combined tours (ice and rock).</p><br>

<p>Castle Farm, Raglan, in the county of Monmouth, is prominently sited 100 yd east of Raglan Castle. The farm is approached from its own drive and shielded from close public view. It was built just before the English Civil War, probably around 1630 and is one of the earlist brick buildings in South Wales. It was originally a stable-block for the castle and later became a farm with a farm courtyard. Some of the farm buildings have been converted into a cafe which serves visitors to the castle. The building is a Grade II listed building and may have been built for the 5th Earl of Worcester to serve Raglan Castle.</p><br>
<h2>History and Architecture</h2><br>
<p>The farm is a remarkable, early example of brick architecture in Monmouthshire, although some brick had been used in the building and lining the walls of the Raglan Castle from about 1460 onwards. The long-demolished Red Gate of the castle, under construction in the 1640s, was built entirely of brick. It should be noted that the Herberts also used brick for the New Build of 1624 at Montgomery Castle.</p><br>
<p>The main building of the farmhouse consists of seven bays of red brick with stone dressings and window mullions. In 1674 it was described as stables and barns lately built, like unto a small Town. Some of the stone window mullions may have been re-used from the castle. The brickwork is bonded irregularly, with a decorative course consisting of a serrated band of bricks laid at an angle. The triple chimney stack is also built of brick. At the survey in 1982 the house was recorded as retaining original floor beams and double-collared trusses, with queen posts.</p><br>
<p>Squaw Peak Inn is a historic structure located at 4425 E. Horseshoe Road in the east end of Piestewa Peak Mountain, formerly known as Squaw Peak Mountain. The inn, which has served as the lodging for various celebrities, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January 1, 1995.</p><br>
<h2>Piestewa Peak Mountain</h2><br>
<p>Piestewa Peak Mountain is located in central Phoenix. The mountain is made up of igneous and metamorphic rocks such as schist, quartzite and quartz. It was known by various names such as Squaw Tit Mountain, Phoenix Mountain, and Vainom Do&#39;ag, the Pima name for the mountain. The mountain was renamed "Squaw Peak Mountain" in the 19th Century by the new settlers from the east coast of the United States. In 2003, the mountain was named Piestewa Peak in honor of Army Spc. Lori Ann Piestewa, the first known Native American woman to die in combat in the USA military, and the first female soldier to be killed in action in the 2003 Iraq War. The national board which voted to approve the name change to Piestewa Peak in 2008 indicated that the original name of Squaw Peak might still be used in publications as a secondary reference.</p><br>
<h2>Squaw Peak Ranch and the Stopford family</h2><br>
<p>In 1929, William Eugene DAllemund built the first building constructed on the property which was to become known as the Squaw Peak Ranch. It was a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom frame-and-stucco house. DAllemund used it as a residence. The house featured a flat roof with parapet, a large fireplace constructed of mortared native stone (with the exterior of the front entry also framed in stone), and high ceilings in the living room and two bedrooms.</p><br>
<p>In 1937, William A. and Emily Stopford purchased an 800-acre parcel near the east end of the mountain for $25.00 an acre. They built a home, designed by Stopford, in the center of their parcel. The ranch house consisted of a living room, two bedrooms and two baths. Adobe bricks were used and the labor force included local Native Americans. By 1943, they converted the house into a guest ranch which they named the Squaw Peak Ranch. The ranch did not have telephones or electricity. The rooms were lit by kerosene lanterns. The water was supplied by a well which was drilled into the hard rock beneath the ranch. The Stopfords also built outhouses for the domestic help.</p><br>
<p>Frank Lloyd Wright, who was a friend of Stopford, often brought architectural students to the ranch to point out an example of appropriate architecture for the Southwest. On 6. 1944, The Stopfords sold the property to George A. and Patty D. Judson.</p><br>
<h2>Squaw Peak Inn and the Jenks family</h2><br>
<p>The Judsons continued to operate the ranch and added slot machines. Even though the ranch was visited by celebrities such as Dick Powell and June Allyson, the Judsons decided to sell the ranch in 1946, to Davidson and Jane Jenks.</p><br>
<p>The Jenks removed the slot machines and made additions and improvements to the property and its surrounding areas. The ranch was renamed in 1946, and since then became known as the "Squaw Peak Inn". Inns are generally establishments or buildings where travelers can seek lodging and, usually, food and drink. They are typically located along a highway or in the country. According to the local news of the time, various notable people were at one time or another guests of the Inn. Among those mentioned were Clark Gable, Robert Taylor, Dr. William Vaughn and Mamie Eisenhower In 1961, the O&#39;Malley Investment and Realty Co. purchased the property.</p><br>
<h2>Change of ownership</h2><br>
<p>The O&#39;Malleys rented the property to Willis and Margery Betts. The Betts, however did not agree with the fact that the rental agreement was renewed twice and discontinued operating the Inn. On July 1, 1976, the property was purchased by Dr. Ted Diethrick. Dr. Diethrick wanted to convert the property into a site for the Arizona Heart Institute. However, the idea did not become a reality because it was met with opposition by the neighbors in the growing residential</p><br>
<p>subdivision that surrounded the Squaw Peak Inn.</p><br>
<p>The property changed hands various times during the following years until it was purchased by the Malouf Brothers. The Malouf Brothers developed the Doubletree Canyon subdivision in the area and sold off 800 acres of land. Only 80 acres, including where the Inn was located, remained.</p><br>
<h2>The Epley family</h2><br>
<p>The abandoned property fell into disrepair. Only two of the original houses remained, the rest were destroyed. Water had eroded the sun-dried adobe bricks of the original structure. The entire north face of the building was significantly damaged by the erosion. The Malouf Brothers intended to destroy the remaining buildings. This did not happen because on October 21, 1980, the developers sold a parcel of just under two acres with the two remaining buildings to William "Bill" and Ann Epley.</p><br>
<p>Both historic buildings were in bad shape. However, after consulting structural engineers, the Epleys decided to restore it. The Epleys modernized the kitchen and bathrooms and built a garage. Ann Epley has added some of her hand made tile and a wall of one of the rooms has the pieces and mirror which survived a tornado that destroyed Ann&#39;s childhood house in Kansas. The main historic building is used by the Epleys as their home.</p><br>
<p>In 1987, the Inn was the major focal point for the made-for-TV movie entitled, "Probe: Plan Nine from Outer Space." The movie is about aliens who resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop humankind from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb). The structure was also used on May 27, 1993, as a backdrop for an interview of then future Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley for ABC&#39;s Prime Time Live.</p><br>

<p>The Arivaca Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located in the unincorporated community of Arivaca, in southern Pima County, Arizona. A small and simple structure made of locally manufactured mud adobe bricks, the Arivaca Schoolhouse was built in 1879 and is the oldest standing schoolhouse remaining in Arizona. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 2012, and is now used as a center for community activities.</p><br>
<p>The Arivaca Schoolhouse was built by Don Pedro Aguirre, an Arizona pioneer that had come to the United States from his native Chihuahua, Mexico, in the 1850s. In 1868, Aguirre opened a stagecoach stop for his freighting business near Arivaca and eventually became one of the leading citizens of the community durings its period of development in the 1870s. In 1879, Aquirre built the Arivaca Schoolhouse for his own children and those of his employees, at his own expense. The building is a simple one-room rectangular structure with a stone foundation, stuccoed adobe walls and a wooden roof covered in tin. The Arivaca School District was established on April 8, 1879.</p><br>
<p>The schoolhouse was in use for over seventy years from its construction in 1879 to its closing in 1953.</p><br>
<p>The Price-Prather House is a historic house located at the intersection of Main and Elkhart Streets in Williamsville, Illinois. The house was built in 1868 for livestock breeder James R. Price. The Italianate house features a multi-component slate roof, a bracketed and dentillated cornice, a wraparound front porch, and long arched windows with brick hoods. Cattle breeder John F. Prather purchased the house in 1882. Prather was an influential Shorthorn cattle breeder; as one of the earliest cattlemen to breed shorthorns in Illinois, he became recognized as an authority on the breed, and he served as president of the American Shorthorn Association and a member of the State Board of Agriculture.</p><br>
<p>The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 13, 1991.</p><br>
<p>Acarlar Floodplain Forest  is a floodplain forest located in Sakarya Province, northwestern Turkey. It is a combination of seaside, lagoon, dunes and forest.</p><br>
<h2>Location and access</h2><br>
<p>Situated between Karasu and Kaynarca north of Sakarya on the coast of Black Sea, it is Turkey&#39;s biggest and only mono-bloc floodplain forest. Its distance to Karasu is around 26 km and to Sakarya around 50 km. Around the area, there are five villages of Karasu district and three of Kaynarca district.</p><br>
<p>At a distance of 2 km from Black Sea, the floodplain forest stretches over 12 km long at a width of 1.0 -.</p><br>
<p>The lagoon is accessible on the road İhsaniye-Denizköy.</p><br>
<h2>Floodplain</h2><br>
<p>The area is a typical lagoon, an inundated coastal terrain formed by separation from the sea by sandy barrier. Situated on the district border of Karasu-Kaynarca, and about 700 m far from the sea, the lagoon covers 1,562 hectare extending parallel to the coast. It can be up to around 1.50 m deep. The land, which emerges due to dried-up floodplain during the summer months, is used by villagers for agriculture.</p><br>
<p>The floodplain is bordered in the north by 30 --high dunes at Black Sea, and in the south by low hills of 100 m height in average. Excess water over flood stage flows into Okçu Creek, which joins Sakarya River in 6 km distance in the east.</p><br>
<h2>Background</h2><br>
<p>On June 25, 1998, Acarlar Floodplain Forest was registered as a protected natural area by the Committee on Conservation of Cultural and Natural Assets in Bursa on its all coverage of 2,800 hectare. The lagoon&#39;s area decreased about 40%, 9,443 km&sup2, after the discharge stream Okçu Creek was widened and turned into a canal by the local authority for soil and water in 1971. To protect pheasant and water birds, a partial area covering 1,576 hectare was registered a wildlife conservation area in 1976 that is the only one of its sort in Sakarya Province. It was enlarged to 2,517 hectare in 2004, and its status was improved to wildlife development area. The area was designated as a wetland of special importance in accordance with Ramsar Convention on April 2, 2009.</p><br>
<h2>Ecosystem</h2><br>
<p>Acarlar Floodplain Forest is habitat for some endemic flora and faına. The area is particularly a breeding and overwintering place for migratory birds.</p><br>
<h3>Flora</h3><br>
<p>The aquatic plant water violet (Hottonia palustris) is endemic to Acarlar Floodplain. The rare plant species loddon lily or summer snowflake (Leucojum aestivum), which is used for treatment of polio, is traded by the villagers of Kaynarca.</p><br>
<p>The floodplain is habitat for more than 150 tree species. It is surrounded by forests of mainly common ash (Fraxinus excelsior). Widespread trees in the forest area are common alder (Alnus glutinosa), willow (Salix),</p><br>
<p>common beech (Fagus sylvatica) and elm.</p><br>
<h3>Fauna</h3><br>
<p>Catfish, roach, carp and pike are some freshwater species found in the lagoon. Common mammals are hare, fox, wild boar, weasel and squirrel. A total of 235 bird species were observed in the protected area, including pheasant, Eurasian woodcock, wild duck, and as bird of prey, hawk.</p><br>
<h3>Environmental threats</h3><br>
<p>Waste water from the eight villages around the floodplain may flow into the lagoon. The excessive use of fertilizer and pesticides in agriculture around the area increases the chemical inlet. Efforts are made to clear a piece of land around for doing agriculture. Illegal logging and poaching has to be prevented. The water flow from the lagoon to Sakarya needs to be monitored, and any hindrance has to be removed. The area experience dense visitor traffic after its opening to tourism. Motorboat tours on the lagoon has to be banned as it harm the migratory birds during their brooding period.</p><br>
<p>In February 2015, the province governor of Sakarya forbid boating on the coastal sea, the lagoon and the canals by any type of watercraft including pedalo.</p><br>
<p>By November 2015, an environmental disaster occurred when one of the feeder streams to the floodplain was contaminated carrying red-colored foamed water. It was reported that fish died and the crop planted by villagers got poisoned.</p><br>
<p>The local Directorate of Forest and Water Management set a drone into service in 2016 to fight poachers by monitoring the protected area from the air.</p><br>
<p>The Harding Railroad Car is a historically significant Pullman railroad passenger car located at Pioneer Park  in Fairbanks, Alaska. Also called Denali, and designated with equipment number X-336 by the Alaska Railroad, the car was one of three used to carry a delegation that included President Warren G. Harding in 1923 to the ceremony marking completion of the railroad between Fairbanks and Seward. The car was purchased by the Alaska Railroad in 1923 from the Great Northern Railroad, and was used in its service until 1945. At the urging of the Fairbanks chapter  of the Pioneers of Alaska, the car was restored in 1959–60 and given to the city of Fairbanks. It was placed in Alaskaland in 1967, created to mark the centennial of the Alaska Purchase. It was used for some years as the park&#39;s visitor center.</p><br>
<p>The car was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.</p><br>
<p>Another car, The Superb, carried Harding&#39;s remains after he died in San Francisco.</p><br>
<p>Yordas Cave is a solutional cave in Kingsdale, North Yorkshire, England. It has been renowned since the eighteenth century as a natural curiosity, and was a show cave during the nineteenth century. It is now a popular destination for cavers, walkers, and outdoor activity groups.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>The old show cave entrance is in a plantation of trees 100 m from the road, at the base of a small cliff, at the bottom of a small gorge. A flight of three steps descend from the entrance archway into the Main Chamber, 55 m long, and 15 m wide. A stream flows across the floor, and disappears into some low passages to the left. Also on the left, a low passage can be followed for a few metres to the Back Door entrance in a shakehole. At the upstream end of the chamber two passages soon unite in the spray-lashed Chapter House chamber, where a 9 m waterfall enters and the showcave ended. Above the waterfall, a passage leads to a junction, with the water flowing from a low 20 m long passage which leads to the base of Yordas Pot, an alternative entrance with a 24 m shaft. The water enters from a side fissure just below the lip of the shaft. Turning right at the junction leads to a climb, and then to two entrances in the upper gorge.</p><br>
<h2>Geology and hydrology</h2><br>
<p>Yordas Cave is a solutional cave formed in Lower Carboniferous limestone. Yordas Beck normally sinks at the top of the gorge, and reappears from a passage near the top of Yordas Pot. From the base of the shaft it follows the passage down to the Chapter House waterfall, before disappearing in confined passages at the end of the Main Chamber. In flood conditions a lake can rise in the Main Chamber up to 2 m deep, before the water is able to flow out of the show cave entrance. The underground stream next appears in Kingsdale Master Cave, and it resurges at Keld Head 2.7 km down the valley. The Main Chamber is several hundred thousand years old, and was formed by solution under phreatic conditions before the Kingsdale valley had formed and allowed it to drain. The square profile of the chamber has resulted from rock collapses from joints. A number of different false floors which may still be seen clinging to the walls indicate that the cave was subject to cycles of deposition and re-excavation during the recent ice ages.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Yordas Cave was first described in detail by Richard Pococke who undertook a tour of Yorkshire in 1751, describing it as "a very grand high cave", although it must have been well known to locals before then as on a visit around 1900 William Palmer noted inscriptions on the wall dating back to 1653. It is marked on Thomas Jefferys 1771 map of Yorkshire, and it was drawn to the publics attention in 1780 by John Hutton in an appendix to Thomas Wests "A Guide to the Lakes". He described stopping at Thornton at the bottom of the dale "to procure a guide, candle, tinderbox etc", and he also noted inscriptions "above two hundred years old". By this time the features in the cave had all already acquired the names by which they are known today. Huttons guide recounted the tale that about fifty years earlier, a pregnant woman travelling alone was taken in labour, and died in the cave. After the publication of Huttons description, it became a destination for those seeking the picturesque, and is featured in most later guide books of the area, and is often described in magazines. William Wordsworth visited the cave in 1800, and later referred to it in The Prelude., and J. M. W. Turner sketched its exterior and interior in 1816. In July 1817 a devastating flood filled much of the chamber with debris. The guide of the time removed some to expose the stream once more, but much of the height of the chamber was lost. In 1818, William Westall produced a book of aquatinted engraved views of Yorkshire which included three views of Yordas Cave. It was still a showcave when Balderstone visited in around 1890. He had to apply to Braida Garth, the farmhouse 2 km down the dale, for the key and a guide and was charged two shillings. The first through trip from the entrance in the upper gorge was made in 1925 by a Yorkshire Ramblers Club party, accompanied by author Laurence Geoghegan who apparently made full use of the experience when writing his novel The Subterranean Club. The Back Door Entrance was opened up by members of the Northern Cavern and Fell Club in August 1932, when they referred to it as Scotsmans Entrance. The Yordas Pot entrance appeared after a storm in December 1963 when a tree covering the shaft was blown over, and it was descended the following February by members of the Gritstone Club, although the base of the shaft had previously been reached by members of the Northern Speleological Group in November 1959.</p><br>
<p>The Keeskogel, a mountain with a height of, lies in the Venediger Group of the High Tauern in Austria. The summit is located about 4 km as the crow flies northwest of the Großvenediger. The waymarked, glacier-free normal route from the Kürsinger Hut, is a relatively straightforward climb in dry and snow-free condition and takes about 1½ to 2 hours to reach the summit . Especially impressive in good weather is the view from the summit of the north side of the Großvenediger and the main chain of the Tauern and the glaciated landscape of the Obersulzbachkees and Untersulzbachkees.</p><br>

<p>Arivaca Creek is a small valley stream in southern Pima County, Arizona, that is approximately 5.5 miles long from its origin in Arivaca Valley to its confluence with the Brawley Wash stream system. As a seasonal stream, Arivaca Creek is perennial for only about two miles most years and experiences its greatest stream-flow during winter and the summer Monsoon season.</p><br>
<p>Most of Arivaca Creek and the riparian corridor it supports is protected as part of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (Buenos Aires NWR). A rare swamp-like desert wetland area called Arivaca Cienega is located in the upper reaches of the creek and makes up the eastern-most part of the Buenos Aires NWR. Both areas are open to the public for hiking, bird watching and other outdoor recreational activities. The small community of Arivaca, Arizona, is located along the banks of the creek, in between the Arivaca Cienega just east of town and the Arivaca Creek trailhead to the west.</p><br>
<p>The Woodlark Building is a historic commercial building in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The nine-story building was designed by Doyle, Patterson & Beach, and constructed in 1911–12. It has been described as "one of Portlands earliest commercial skyscrapers". From its completion until 1924, it was the headquarters of two jointly owned and very similarly named pharmaceutical companies based in Portland, the retail Woodard, Clarke & Company, and the wholesale Clarke-Woodward Company. It was converted into an office building in 1924. The retail space on the ground floor, mezzanine and basement has held a variety of businesses, in succession over the buildings history, among the longest-lasting ones being a drugstore , a Sherman Clay piano and music store , and an independent shoe store .</p><br>
<p>In 2015, new owners announced plans to join the building to the adjacent Cornelius Hotel (a former hotel) and convert the two buildings into a hotel, with around 150 rooms. The new hotel is to be named The Woodlark and is targeted to open in spring 2018.</p><br>
<h2>Background and etymology</h2><br>
<p>The building was constructed as the new headquarters for the Portland-based retail and wholesale pharmaceutical companies owned by Louis G. Clarke (1855–1943) and William W. Woodward (1863–1940), and its nameoriginally written as "Wood-Lark" Buildingwas formed by combining parts of the two men&#39;s names. (The partners had employed the same practice when naming the 1907 building which previously served as their headquarters, the Cla-Wood Building, or Clawood Building, at Northwest 9th and Hoyt. That building was listed on the National Register in 1989, as the Clarke–Woodward Drug Company Building, but was later demolished and was delisted in 2000.)</p><br>
<p>The retail operation had been established in 1880 and formally incorporated in 1900 as Woodard, Clarke & Company, from a partnership between Louis Clarke and Charles H. Woodard, who retired form the business in 1904. In 1906, Clarke formed a new partnership with William Woodward, who had already been working for the company since 1882, to establish a wholesale drug business. The close similarity of the last names of Clarkes two successive partners has fostered confusion at times, compounded by the fact that the retail business continued to use the name Woodard, Clarke & Co. long after Charles Woodards retirement, while the younger wholesale business carried the name Clarke-Woodward Company, using William Woodward&#39;s name, and the two jointly owned companies operated concurrently.</p><br>
<p>Construction of the building began in November 1911 and was completed in mid-1912.</p><br>
<h2>Description and original use</h2><br>
<p>The building is located at the northeast corner of Southwest Alder Street and 9th Avenue (West Park Street at the time). Until 1924, it served as the companies headquarters. A retail Woodard, Clarke & Company drugstore occupied the ground floor, basement and mezzanine levels, and the upper floors were used for Clarke-Woodwards wholesale operations. The store opened for business on August 26, 1912.</p><br>
<p>The building&#39;s footprint is 50 x. It has nine floors above ground and is 132 ft tall. Designed by Portland-based Doyle, Patterson & Beach, the Woodlark Building uses Late 19th and Early 20th Century Commercial style, also featuring "strong Beaux-Arts influence in the elaborate cornice and other detailing."</p><br>
<h2>Usage after 1924</h2><br>
<p>In 1924, Clarke and Woodward sold their drug business to the Blumauer-Frank Drug Company and the wholesale drug business moved out of the building, but they retained ownership of the structure. The buildings upper floors were converted into leasable office space. Other changes made at that time included a redesign and relocation of the buildings main entry point, from West Park Street (now SW 9th Avenue) to a new entrance on Alder Street, at the building&#39;s southeast corner. The redesign was carried out by architect Emil Schacht and included a terracotta arch.</p><br>
<p>The main retail space continued to be used for a drugstore, changing from Woodard-Clarke to Liggetts in late 1925, until closing in late 1927. Glickmans, a women&#39;s clothing store, occupied the space for only a few months in 1928 before going out of business. Sherman Clay & Company, a seller of musical instruments and sheet music, moved into the space in January 1930 from a location elsewhere in downtown, occupying the basement, ground floor and mezzanine levels, initially under a 10-year lease. From 1951 to 1973, the building housed a finishing school</p><br>
<p>The Woodlark Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2014. It is located immediately adjacent to two other NRHP-listed buildings, the Cornelius Hotel, to the east, and the Stevens Building, to the north, and diagonally across from a third, the Galleria building.</p><br>
<p>Since 2000, the ground-floor retail tenant had been Johnny Sole, an independent shoe store. It closed in October 2016 with the start of work to convert the building into a hotel.</p><br>
<h2>Planned hotel</h2><br>
<p>In April 2014, the building was acquired by Arthur Mutal, a Portland real estate developer, at a cost of $8.65 million.</p><br>
<p>In January 2015, it was announced that the Woodlark Building is to be joined to the adjacent Cornelius Hotel, a former hotel now slated to be renovated, and converted for use as a hotel. The Cornelius Hotel building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The planned renovation and conversion is expected to cost $30 million, funded by NBP Capital, Provenance Hotels and Arthur Mutal LLC. The hotel created from the combined buildings is slated to have 151 rooms and two restaurants or bars.</p><br>
<p>Work on the conversion of the building began in September 2016. The hotel, to be named The Woodlark, or Woodlark Hotel, is projected to open in spring 2018.</p><br>
<p>The Schlieferspitze is a mountain, on the ridge known as the Krimmler Kamm in the Venediger Group of the Alps. The ridge lies in the northwest of the High Tauern, part of the Austrian Central Alps in the Austrian federal state of Salzburg. The summit is the highest on the Krimmler Kamm and is described in the sources as one of the most attractive peaks in the Venediger Group. From the valleys of the Krimmler Achental to the southwest and the Obersulzbachtal to the northeast it appears as an extremely dominant mountain. Long and evenly formed arêtes, about two kilometres long, run from the summit to the northwest, northeast, southeast and southwest. The mountain was first ascended on 22 August 1871 by Eduard Richter, professor of geography at the University of Graz, and Johann Stüdl, a merchant from Prague and co-founder of the German Alpine Club.</p><br>
<h2>Surrounding area</h2><br>
<p>To the north, east and west of the Schlieferspitze are glaciers, known as kees, that climb to a height of over 3,100 metres. To the north is the Rear Jaidbachkees (Hinterjaidbachkees), to the east, the Eastern Sonntagkees (Östliche Sonntagkees), and to the west, the Western Jaidbachkees (Westliche Jaidbachkees).</p><br>
<p>The northeast arête runs down to the Obersulzbachtal valley, the southwest arête, known as the Rinderwand, descends to the Krimmler Achental. Important neighbouring peaks lies on the Spitze&#39;s northwest and southeast arêtes. One kilometre away to the northwest lies the Jaidbachspitze and another 1,000 metres beyond is the Unlaßkarkopf which reaches a height of. One and a half kilometres away on the southeastern arête lie the two towers of the Schliefertürme (the southeast tower at 3,142 m and the northwest tower at ) and a few hundred metres beyond them is the Hohe Sonntagskopf at</p><br>
<p>Important settlements in the wider area are the village of Ströden in the upper Virgental valley in East Tyrol, a good 13 kilometres away to the southeast as the crow flies, and Krimml on the Gerlos Straße in the state of Salzburg which is about 12 kilometres away to the north-northwest.</p><br>
<h2>Bases and ascent</h2><br>
<p>The route used by the first climbers in 1871 led from the Johannis Hut (2,121 m), a long way to the southeast in the Dorfertal valley and headed in a northeasterly direction. According to the original account, they then went over the Obersulzbachtörl and circumnavigated the expansive Obersulzbachferner glacier in a wide arc to the west almost as far as the Krimmler Törl. They then crossed the Western Sonntagskees, and advanced up several rocky ridges, with randklufts and hollows, not shown on the contemporary Alpine Club map. Finally they made their way along the southeastern arête to the summit of the Schlieferspitze after 7½ hours. On the same day, the two alpinists also climbed the Prägraten am Großvenediger. The first winter ascent of the Schlieferspitze was made by a group of skiers with F. Müller on 17 April 1908.</p><br>
<p>Today the base for an ascent of the Schlieferspitze is the Warnsdorfer Hut to the south in the upper Krimmler Achental valley at 2,336 metres. The normal route to the top heads in a northerly direction to the southwest arête and then continues up a steep gradient classified, according to the literature as a UIAA grade II- climb to the summit cross. The journey time is about 3½ hours. From 1904 to 1934 climbing routes were opened up the faces and flanks of the Spitze; however these are no longer used due to the high risk of rockfalls.</p><br>
<p>The Observer Building is a historic commercial and residential building located at 128 Union Square in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Built in 1854, it is an architecturally unusual Greek Revival wood-frame "flatiron" triangular building with a variable-pitch gable roof. In addition to its architectural significance, it is also historically significant as the home for many years of The Piscataquis Observer, one of Maine&#39;s oldest weekly newspapers. The building is now owned by the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society, which uses it as a museum and storage space.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The building stands at a prominent triangular intersection in the center of Dover-Foxcroft, where Pleasant Street diverges from East Main Street (Maine State Route 15). The building itself is a roughly triangular two-story wood frame structure, presenting a narrow three-bay front to the junction. Its roof is one of its most unusual features, beginning at the front with a neary equilateral triangular gable pitch, which flattens out toward the rear of the building, giving an effect similar to an inverted ship&#39;s hull. The front facade has a doorway flanked by sash windows on the first floor, and a pair of symmetrically-placed windows on the second, and a smaller sash window in the gable. The doorway, like others on the building, is sheltered by a gable-roof portico supported by simple wooden brackets. The corners of the front facade are highlighted by wooden pilasters. The long south side of the building has nine windows on the first floor and eight on the second, while the north side has eight windows and two doorways on the first floor and eight windows on the second.</p><br>
<p>The building was constructed in 1854 by William Sargent, and was apparently used as a residential tenement house. In 1903, it was acquired by George Doore, who converted it to a commercial space, and leased it the Observer Publishing Company, publisher of The Piscataquis Observer. The Observer, a weekly newspaper, has a publication history dating to 1838. It was first known as the Piscataquis Herald, was renamed the Piscataquis Farmer in 1842, and finally settled on Observer in 1847. It is one of Maine&#39;s oldest weekly newspapers.</p><br>
<p>The Observer housed its offices and printing operations in this building until 1997, when it gave the building to the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society. The society operates the first floor as a museum, and uses the upstairs as a storage, office, and meeting space.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 26, 1998.</p><br>
<p>The Granite Store is a historic commercial building in United States Route 1 in Sullivan, Maine. It is an unusual example of Greek Revival architecture, executed in rough-cut granite, probably built between 1835 and 1850. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It is now apparently in residential use.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Granite Store is set on the south side of US Route 1, between its junction with Maine State Route 200 and the crossing of Mill Brook. It is a 2-1/2 story structure with a front-facing gable roof. It is set on a granite foundation, and its two stories are fashioned out of courses of locally-quarried rough cut granite; the gable ends are framed in wood and finished in weatherboard, with a cornice molding outlining it. The main facade faces north, and has a central entry set in a frame of long granite blocks. This is flanked by a pair of sash windows, with slightly smaller sash windows above. An even smaller sash window is located in the gable end. Both side walls lack any sort of fenestration. The rear of the building has two windows on the first floor and one on the second, with an additional space on the second floor where there was once a doorway probably used as a loading entry.</p><br>
<p>It is believed that the initial use of the building, probably built in the 1840s, was as a salt and supply store for fisherman working on the Grand Banks. By the late 1850s the property was in use as a shipyard, where fishing schooners were built; the store would have then served as a chandlery, providing mariners with all manner of supplies. The building has had long periods of vacancy since the 1870s, seeing occasional use as a gift shop and art gallery. It now appears to have been adapted for residential use.</p><br>
<p>The Jacob Berger House, also known locally as the Sally Carrighar House, is a historic Gold Rush mansion at 308 2nd Avenue in Nome, Alaska. It is a two-story late Victorian house, built in 1903-04 by Jacob Berger, a miner who had at least three major finds during the Nome Gold Rush. It was built out of high quality material brought to Nome from west coast ports, and was based on a pattern from an architectural pattern book, with special adaptations for Nome&#39;s harsh climate. The main block of the house has a hip roof above a shortened second story, and has a square projecting section in the front which has a full-height second story and is topped by a pyramidal roof. The house is also unusual for the period for the size and number of windows it has.</p><br>
<p>The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.</p><br>
<p>The Marion County Courthouse is located at Courthouse Square in Yellville, the county seat of Marion County, Arkansas. It is a two-story stone and concrete structure, set on a raised basement. Its main  elevation has a series of projecting sections, with the main rectangular block of the building behind. The first section is a Romanesque round-arched entry, flanked by square supports and topped by a small gable. This leads through a slightly smaller gable-roofed section to a wider section, which has prominent hexagonal turrets at either side, a surviving remnant of the previous courthouse. Most of the structure is finished in rusticated stone; there is a course of concrete at the cornice below the turrets, in which the "Marion County Courthouse" is incised. The building was constructed in 1943-44, after the 1906 courthouse was heavily damaged by fire.</p><br>
<p>The courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.</p><br>
<p>Tal-Qadi Temple is a megalithic temple in Salina, limits of Naxxar, Malta. It is in a very bad state of preservation, with only the temple&#39;s general outline still visible.</p><br>
<h2>Site</h2><br>
<p>The site of Tal-Qadi was possibly in use around 4000 BC, during the Ġgantija phase of Maltese prehistory, but the temple itself was built during the Tarxien phase between 3300 and 3000 BC. The temple continued to be used during the Tarxien Cemetery phase, since pottery sherds from that era have been found.</p><br>
<p>Tal-Qadi is the only temple in Malta which is orientated to the north-east. Most other temples face the south or south-east, but in the case of Tal-Qadi this would not have been possible since there is a steep slope in that direction.</p><br>
<p>Today, the temple is in poor condition, with few remains visible apart from its general outline. The remains of a central area and two apses can still be seen. The temple probably contained another two apses, giving it a four-apse shape which was typical of the late temple period. No traces of the temple&#39;s façade exist.</p><br>
<h2>Excavation and recent history</h2><br>
<p>The scattered remains of the temple, spread out on an upper and a lower field, were discovered by Henry Sant, a government civil engineer, in 1916. The area was excavated in 1927 by Themistocles Zammit and L. Upton Way. According to Zammit, years before the identification of the temple, the tenant of the site had destroyed a group of upright stones. These might have been the remains of the temple&#39;s missing façade or its outer casing.</p><br>
<p>During the excavations, a broken globigerina limestone slab showing five sections separated by lines, and incised with star-like figures and a crescent shape in the middle (possibly representing the moon) was found. This slab possibly was a star map or a moon calendar. It is now located in the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta.</p><br>
<p>The remains of the temple were surveyed and mapped in 1952.</p><br>

<p>Heathery Burn Cave is a cave near Stanhope, County Durham, England, in which a large collection of Late Bronze Age weapons and tools was discovered and excavated between 1859 and 1872.</p><br>
<h2>Location</h2><br>
<p>The cave was in a ravine formed by Stanhope Burn, a small tributary of the River Wear. The cave itself was about a mile north of the confluence of the burn and the river, on the left bank. The floor of the cave was 10 ft above the level of the burn, and was a tourist destination before the quarrying of the limestone for smelting purposes.</p><br>
<h3>Geology</h3><br>
<p>The geology of the area forms part of the Yoredale Group of limestone with subordinate sandstone and argillaceous rocks.</p><br>
<h2>Discovery</h2><br>
<p>The earliest archaeological discoveries in the cave were made in the 1750s or 1760s, though the full extent of the site did not become known until later. Primarily, the material was discovered progressively in the latter half of the 19th century as a result of quarrying on the site. The finds were recorded and catalogued by William Greenwell between 1859 and 1872, who described them as "one of the most valuable discoveries ever made in Britain of weapons, implements, ornaments, and other things belonging to the Bronze Age". The objects from the cave are dispersed across several museums in the United Kingdom; the largest collection is in the British Museum, but material is also stored in the Ashmolean Museum and Yorkshire Museum. Bronze Age implements are few in number from Weardale; the only other examples from near Wolsingham and Eastgate.</p><br>
<h2>Finds from the Cave</h2><br>
<p>Over two hundred Late Bronze Age objects have been located from the Heathery Burn Cave.</p><br>
<h3>Gold</h3><br>
<p>Two gold objects are present in the assemblage – one bracelet and one unidentified ornament taking the form of a penannular, convex disc with a triangular section. Gold working began in Britain during the early part of the Bronze Age.</p><br>
<h3>Copper alloy</h3><br>
<p>A significant quantity of copper alloy weapons and tools forms the major part of this assemblage, including socketed axeheads, spearheads, casting moulds, fittings, rings, swords, and a bucket.</p><br>
<h3>Ceramic</h3><br>
<p>The discovery of the ceramic remains was recounted by William Greenwell: "a large quantity of fragmentary pieces (of pottery), principally small, was discovered in all parts of the cave, but the greater portion has unfortunately not been preserved." The true extent of the ceramic remains from the cave is now lost, along with the find spots within the cave complex.</p><br>
<h3>Bone</h3><br>
<p>Objects carved from bone include spatulas and toggles. A handle was made from red deer antler, and pendants were made from horse and dog teeth. Pointed bone tools were carved from sheep tibiae or roe deer metapodials. Shells had been perforated for use as pendants, using shells from Nucella lapillus (dog whelk), and Littorina obtusata – both of which species had to be transported from the coast. Human remains were also found in the cave.</p><br>
<h3>Flint</h3><br>
<p>Flint tools form only a small part of the assemblage. Of the 196 objects in the British Museum from Heathery Burn Cave, only four are made from worked flint: one barbed-and-tanged arrowhead, and three flakes.</p><br>
<p>The Hoher Seeblaskogel is a mountain, in the western part of the Stubai Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Its independent summit lies between the cols of Winnebachjoch and Bachfallenscharte. To the south the Grüne-Tatzen glacier climbs to just below the summit. The Seeblaskogel has rock faces on all sides, below which lie the glaciers of Ochsenkarferner to the north and Seeblaskogelferner to the east.</p><br>
<p>The summit may be reached either from the Winnebachsee Hut or the Westfalenhaus. The two easiest routes from these huts both meet in an approach from the south over the relatively safe Grüne-Tatzen-Ferner glacier before making their way along the rather exposed eastern arête classified as UIAA grade I. All other routes, especially the north face (UIAA grade IV) involve climbing.</p><br>

<p>Santa Verna is a megalithic site in Xagħra on the island of Gozo, Malta. The site was originally occupied by a village and a megalithic temple. Although the temple is in poor condition now, in ancient times it was probably one of the major temples in the Maltese islands. The site takes its name from a chapel dedicated to Saint Venera that once stood close to the temple.</p><br>
<h2>Site</h2><br>
<p>Santa Verna was originally a prehistoric village, and the earliest pottery remains date back to around 5000 BC, during the Għar Dalam phase. The temple itself was built in the following centuries and it had a trefoil shape, which was typical of the time. In its heyday, Santa Verna was probably an important temple, which rivaled other major temples such as Ġgantija, Tarxien and Ħaġar Qim.</p><br>
<p>The only remains of the temple that survive today are three upright megaliths, another three horizontal blocks lining their eastern side, and the earth floor which makes it possible to see the temple&#39;s original outline.</p><br>
<h2>Excavations</h2><br>
<p>The megalithic remains at Santa Verna were found by Nikola Said, a worker at the Public Works Department. They were also noted by the archaeologist Manuel Magri in the early 20th century. The site was excavated in 1908 by T. Eric Peet, and again in 1911 by Thomas Ashby and R. N. Bradley. During the excavations, two complete skeletons and several incomplete ones were found, including one of a child. Many smaller artifacts were also found during the excavations.</p><br>
<p>The remains were included on the Antiquities List of 1925. Another excavation was made in 1961 by David H. Trump, when the remains of the village that predates the temple were found.</p><br>
<p>Moster is an island in Bømlo municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. The 12 km&sup2; island lies just south of the large island of Bømlo, surrounded by the Bømlafjorden. The Røyksund Channel is a small navigable channel that separates Moster from the island of Bømlo. There is one bridge on the Norwegian County Road 542 that crosses the channel, connecting the island to the rest of the municipality, which in turn is connected to the mainland via the Triangle Link.</p><br>
<p>The island is the location of the village of Mosterhamn. The thousand-year old Old Moster Church is located in Mosterhamn, and the newer Moster Church is also located on the island. The Mostrating was a thing that was held in Moster in 1024 by King Olav II and Bishop Grimketel. This is considered the meeting that made Christianity the national religion of Norway.</p><br>
<p>The Glödis is one of the most regularly formed summits in the Schober Group in East Tyrol, hence its sobriquet, the "Matterhorn of the Schober Group". It is an impressive sight both from the Debanttal valley and the valley of Kalser Lesachtal.</p><br>
<h2>Name</h2><br>
<p>Franc Miklošič derives the name from the Slavic word gledna (="seeing").</p><br>
<p>According to Heinz Pohl, however, there are 2 possible derivations: either from the early Slovenian glodišće (="place gnawed away by water", from glodati="to gnaw"), but this link is phonetically difficult; or more probably from glodež which has a similar meaning.</p><br>
<p>In the Debanttal valley the mountain was for a long time called the Großer Gößnitzkopf. Its other names include Klöders and Granatkogel.</p><br>
<h2>Routes</h2><br>
<p>The best ascent option is from the Lienzer Hut along the Franz Keil Way, then on to the Kalser Törl and finally along the southeast arête. In autumn 2006 a klettersteig was installed on the southeast ridge which is of moderate difficulty (grade B). Other well known routes are:</p><br>

<p>The Gleirscher Fernerkogel, also Gleirschfernerkogl, formerly called the Roßkarspitze, is a mountain, in the Southern Sellrain Mountains, a subgroup of the Stubai Alps. It rises in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The old name, Roßkarspitze, was given to it during the military survey of the region in the 1850s. The first documented ascent was undertaken on 1 September 1883 by Ludwig Purtscheller and Hans Schöller, a "professor from Salzburg". Purtscheller gave the mountain its present name. A prominent 500-metre-long ridge runs eastwards from the unimposing summit.</p><br>
<h2>Surrounding area</h2><br>
<p>The Gleirscher Fernerkogel lies a good seven kilometres as the crow flies northeast of Längenfeld in the Ötztal valley and just under 7 km southwest Praxmar in the Lüsenstal valley. To the east two glaciers climb the mountain to a height of 3,100 metres. North of the east ridge is the Gleirschferner glacier; to the south is the Weißkogelferner, rapidly disappearing as a result of global warming, whose firn field is now only just under 300 metres long. Neighbouring peaks are the Hintere Grubenwand (3,175 m) on the east ridge, separated by the col of Roßkarscharte (3,053 m); the Winnebacher Weißkogel (3,185 m) to the south; and the Sonnenwände peaks to the north, whose highest top is the Hintere Sonnenwand (3,112 m). To the west the 500-metre-high rock face of the Gleirscher Fernerkogel drops steeply into the valley of the Zwieselbach.</p><br>
<h2>Bases and tours</h2><br>
<p>The route taken by the first climbers ran from the valley of Gleirschtal to the north, across the Gleirschferner glacier heading southwest up the East Face (Ostwand) and East Ridge to the summit. Today, this normal route runs as a high mountain tour (only to be attempted with the right equipment and knowledge) from the Neue Pforzheimer Hut (2,308 m) in the upper Gleirschtal. The route runs over the glacier towards the col of Roßkarscharte, up to the rockfall-prone East Face of the Kogel, which according to the literature is classed as a moderately difficult climb at UIAA grade II to the summit. The direct route along the East Ridge involves difficult climbing at UIAA grade IV. The journey time from the hut is 5 hours. Other routes to the Gleirscher Fernerkogel run along the South Ridge (UIAA grade II) from the Westfalenhaus (2,273 m) in 3 hours, or up the South Face assessed as UIAA grade III.</p><br>

<p>The Bureau of Indian Affairs Unalakleet School, also known as the Unalakleet Day School and BIA School and Quarters, is a historic school complex in Unalakleet, Alaska, a small community about 150 mi southeast of Nome at the mouth of the Unalakleet River. The complex includes the main school building, a light plant, a warehouse and the former Teachers Quarters, Clinics Quarters and Duplex Quarters across 2nd Street. The school building is a Georgian Revival structure, 2-1/2 stories in height, built in 1933 with balloon framing, a gable roof with octagonal cupola, and a concrete foundation. Shed-roof dormers were added in 1937, and an addition in 1954. The building housed classrooms and other facilities on the first two floors, and two small apartments in the attic space . The school was built by the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs as part of a major program to improve the education of Alaska&#39;s Native population, and was operated from these premises until 1978, when the state built a new school.</p><br>
<p>The school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.</p><br>
<p>Round Top Mountain is a mountain that lies at the western end of the Sierra Blanca area in Hudspeth County, Texas near the town of Sierra Blanca, Texas. The area includes the Finlay Mountains, Triple Hill, and Sierra Blanca quadrangles as well as parts of the Fort Quitman and McNary quadrangles. Round Top Mountain is known for containing deposits of Beryllium as well as the largest deposit of heavy rare-earth elements in the United States.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>Round Top Mountain is located in the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas, northeast from the Mexican border. The region is the most mountainous area of Texas, and lies to the southeast of the Sierra Blanca Mountain range. The area includes the Finlay Mountains, Triple Hill, and Sierra Blanca quadrangles as well as parts of the Fort Quitman and McNary quadrangles.</p><br>
<p>The closest town to Round Top Mountain is Sierra Blanca, Texas, located 8 miles southeast of the mountain with a population of approximately 553 people. It is accessible by Interstate 10 and approximately 85 miles east of El Paso, Texas.</p><br>
<p>Round Top Mountain is more than a mile in diameter at its base (approximately 1,609 meters). Its peak is 300 meters (1,000 feet) above the desert plateau and approximately 1,300–1,400 meters (4,270–4,600 feet) above sea level.</p><br>
<h2>Geology</h2><br>
<p>The Sierra Blanca area is on the northern margin of the Chihuahua Tectonic Belt and is a massive complex of volcanic rocks including pyroclastic materials, lava flows, and intrusions. The area contains scrub brush and grasses that are supported by the mountain&#39;s sandy loams and clay.</p><br>
<p>The first geological exploration in the area of Round Top Mountain was in the 1970s when fluoride deposits were discovered. A 1988 feasibility study found the mountain to contain approximately 298,000 tons of ore with a prediction of yielding 11,000,000 lbs of beryllium.</p><br>
<p>Round Top is known for containing rare-earth elements, including the largest deposit of heavy rare-earth elements in the United States, estimated at over 1 billion tons. No similar deposit has been described elsewhere.</p><br>
<h3>Round Top Project</h3><br>
<p>The Round Top Project is a mining project led by Texas Rare Earth Resources Corp. While the site is owned by the Texas General Land Office, it was leased to Texas Rare Earth Resources beginning in May 2011 for the exploration and development of the sites rare-earth elements. The United States was the leading producer of rare-earth elements until the 1990s when lower production costs in China caused other mines to close down. China began restricting exports of rare-earth elements in 2006, causing a substantial rise in the cost of the elements. Chinas monopoly on these elements led to the exploration for rare-earth elements in the United States, including opening of previously closed mines.</p><br>
<p>The Round Top Project began in the 1980s with the drilling of several locations in the mountain for fluoride and later beryllium. The project was originally for the exploration and development of beryllium and uranium, both of which are found in the mountain. Texas Rare Earth Resources picked up the project in 2011 with the re-logging and re-analyzing of the previous 82,000 feet (approximately 24,993 meters) of drilling. A 1990 study by the Texas Bureau of Geology estimated the rare-earth deposits in the mountain to be 1.6 billion metric tonnes. The project cost is approximately $290 million with an estimated $8 billion in projected revenue over 20 years of mining.</p><br>
<p>The heavy rare-earth elements are hosted in yttrofluorite which is soluble in dilute sulfuric acid, making heap leach extraction feasible. The natural porosity and permeability of the rhyolite provide the micro-conduits that allow the acid to penetrate to the interior of the large crush size (one inch, or 2.5 cm) for the heap leach. The even grade of heavy rare-earth mineralization throughout the deposit leads to a consistent, unchanging quality of raw material for the heap leach.</p><br>
<h2>Environment</h2><br>
<p>Ground water near Round Top Mountain is available through natural underground reservoirs. However, the water is too brackish and mineral-laden to be potable. The rainfall in the area comes primarily from thunderstorms during the months of July and August, with the months of January through April being mostly dry. Temperatures during the summer months reach 100 °F during the day with cooler temperatures at night. Due to the breezes in the higher parts of the mountain the actual temperature can vary considerably in the area. Round Top Mountain is a low impact for earthquakes with approximately one occurrence every 50 years.</p><br>
<h3>Climate</h3><br>
<p>The Kuchenspitze is a mountain, in the Verwall between the valley of Stanzer Tal and Paznaun in the west of North Tyrol.</p><br>
<h2>Location and landscape</h2><br>
<p>The mountain rises south of St. Anton am Arlberg in the Stanzer valley. Northeast of the summit is the Darmstädter Hut.</p><br>
<p>The Kuchenspitze is the second highest peak in the Verwall Group after the Hoher Riffler.</p><br>
<p>Its main summit is not the 3148 spot height, but the peak to the south; to the north are several other subpeaks.</p><br>
<p>The mountain is glaciated. In its north cirque (Nordkar) is the Großer Kuchenferner; to the west, the Kleiner Kuchenferner; and, to the south, between the main summit and the subpeak of the Küchlspitze, is the Großer Küchlferner. The ridge continues northwards via the col of Kuchenjöchl to the Scheibler and the Kartell Group above St. Anton. The Kuchenspitze is a little to the north of the main chain of the Verwall, which runs over the Küchlspitze.</p><br>
<p>The entire west side of the mountain drains into the Kartellspeicher reservoir and the Moosbach into the Rosanna, the west flank into the Fasulbach, which empties into the upper Rosanna.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>Two of the peaks, including point 3148, were first climbed by Andreas Madlener and Julius Volland on 3 September 1877, the actual main summit by Wilhelm Strauß with his guides, Josef Ladner and Gottlieb Lorenz on 19 September 1884. At that time it was one of the few unclimbed main summits of the group, because the main chain of the Verwall was ascended around 1860 as part of a state survey.</p><br>
<p>Today, the mountain is rarely visited. It may be ascended, for example, from St. Anton in the Verwall valley near the Konstanzer Hut directly or via the Kuchenjöchl, or up the Moosbach valley, and from the south from Ischgl via the Madleinalpe, or from Mathon via the Friedrichshafner Hut. The Darmstädter Hut usually the base. The routes to the summit are then at least difficult (UIAA grade II/SAC WS) and, in places, challenging climbs.</p><br>
<p>Farish Street Neighborhood Historic District is a historic neighborhood in Jackson, Mississippi, known as a hub for Black-owned businesses up until the 1970s. Named after a family that lived and had businesses on that street for four generations, the street became a flourishing business area after the imposition of legal segregation under Jim Crow. As the black community thrived, by 1908 one third of the area of Jackson was black-owned, one third of the houses where blacks lived were black-owned, and half of black families owned their own homes. In 1915 the Farish Street neighborhood was well known as a progressive area in Jackson. Farish Street was home to Trumpet Records, Ace Records, and Speir Phonograph Company. Jackson State University, a historically Black university, was located at the corner of Farish and Griffith for about a year until it moved to its new location.</p><br>
<p>The Farish Street neighborhood was added as a historic district to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The neighborhood is historically significant as an economically independent black community, and as of 1980 was the largest such community in Mississippi. Most of the properties in the district were built between 1890 and 1930.</p><br>
<p>The Gangdese batholith or Gangdese volcanic arc is a major geological structure in the south of the Lhasa terrane in Tibet, to the north of the Himalayas. The batholith formed around 100 million years ago, and was volcanically active for about 20 million years. It reactivated around 65 million years ago as the Indian plate approached Eurasia, and was active for another 20 million years.</p><br>
<h2>Formation</h2><br>
<p>The Lhasa terrane moved northward and collided with the Qiangtang terrane along the Bangong-Nujiang suture towards the end of the late Jurassic. Collision activity continued until the early Late Cretaceous Ma.</p><br>
<p>The collision caused a peripheral foreland basin to form in the north part of the Lhasa terrane, which persisted into the Early Cretaceous.</p><br>
<p>In some parts of the foreland basin the north-dipping subduction of the Neotethyan oceanic crust below the Lhasa terrane caused volcanism.</p><br>
<p>The Gangdese volcanic arc was formed as this subduction continued along the southern margin of the Lhasa terrane.</p><br>
<p>The batholith intrudes the southern half of the Lhasa terrain.</p><br>
<p>It is the largest Transhimalayan plutonic complex.</p><br>
<h2>Development</h2><br>
<p>U–Pb zircon dating suggests that there were two separate stages of plutonism in the Gangdese batholith, one in the Late Cretaceous ( Ma) and the other in the early Paleogene ( Ma), peaking around 50 Ma. Between these two stages the Gangdese was quiescent during the period Ma, possibly due to flattening of the northward Neotethyan subduction.</p><br>
<p>Contact with India began along the Yarlung-Zangbo suture around 50 Ma during the Eocene, and the two continents continue to converge.</p><br>
<p>The second stage of activity may be due to the approach of India, preceded by rollback of the subducted slab and peaking at the time of collision.</p><br>
<p>North-dipping seismic reflections deep in the crust below the Gangdese batholith at a depth of 40 to 60 km may mark the downdip of the Yarlung-Zangbo suture, or may mark a more recent reverse fault.</p><br>
<p>The Nyingchi complex forms the eastern segment of the Gangdese magmatic arc, and is mainly composed of plutons and their metamorphosed equivalents.</p><br>
<p>I-type granitoids in this complex date to Ma, and appear to have been emplaced in the Lhasa terrane at middle to lower crustal depths.</p><br>
<p>The Nyingchi complex is thus the exposed lower crust of the magmatic arc.</p><br>
<p>Derital zircons from the associated metasedimentary rocks have U–Pb ages from Ma.</p><br>
<p>Metamorphic zircons from the metaplutonic and metasedimentary rocks date to Ma.</p><br>
<p>The Nyingchi complex was heated to a peak of 800 to 830 °C, causing granulite-facies metamorphism and partial melting.</p><br>
<p>The cause may have been rollback of the flat-subducted Neo-Tethyan oceanic slab during the Early Paleogene, causing a contractional orogeny and intrusion of large volumes of mantle-derived magmas.</p><br>
<p>The Linzizong Formation is distributed widely along the Gangdese Belt. It was emplaced between 69 and 43 Ma near Lhasa and between 54 and 37 Ma in southwestern Tibet.</p><br>
<p>It is slightly folded and slopes gently to the north.</p><br>
<p>The formation is unconformably underlain by Cretaceous sedimentary sequences more than 3,000 m thick, which are strongly folded.</p><br>
<p>Magmatism continued in the Gangdese arc until as late as 40 Ma.</p><br>
<p>The Napfspitze , is a peak on the main chain of the Zillertal Alps and on the border between the Austrian federal state of Tyrol and the Italian province of South Tyrol.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>The Napfspitze lies north of St. Peter in the Tauferer Ahrntal valley and south of the Zillergrund bottom. The long ridge of Riblerkamm branches from the main chain of the Zillertal Alps at the Napfspitze heading in a northerly direction. Along the ridge are two more peaks that exceed 3,000 metres in height: an unnamed 3,103-metre-summit and, further south, the Hohe Warte at 3,095 metres. On the northeastern side of the Napfspitze lies a small glacier, the Grießbachjochkees.</p><br>
<h2>First ascent</h2><br>
<p>The mountain was first climbed by R. Seyerlein and St. Kirchner in the year 1880; they reached the summit via the southern arête.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent options</h2><br>
<p>The normal route runs from the Zillergrund to the north of the Napfspitze, beginning from the inn on the water meadows. Initially, it heads south towards Mitterjoch through the Sundergrund bottom. It then forks off this road at the upper level beneath the col called the Oberlangleben. It then continues, trackless and unmarked, over extensive, boulder-strewn mountainside to the summit area. There, the route makes its way up gullies to the summit block and continues up climb steep, heavily-fissured rocks to the summit itself (UIAA scale I). Five to seven hours are needed for this long climb.</p><br>
<p>Alternatively, the Napfspitze can be scaled from the St. Peter im Ahrntal to the south. One option is the long south ridge (UIAA grade II). Another variant is the waymarked trail to the lake of Grießbachsee, which then climbs tracklessly from there to the Grießbachjöchl col and finally crosses the east ridge to the summit (UIAA scale I).</p><br>
<p>Buġibba Temple is a megalithic temple in Buġibba, limits of St. Paul&#39;s Bay, Malta. It is located in the grounds of the Dolmen Resort Hotel.</p><br>
<h2>Site</h2><br>
<p>The temple is located a short distance from the coast, between Buġibba and Qawra Point. It was built during the Tarxien phase of Maltese prehistory. The temple is quite small, and part of its coralline limestone façade can still be seen. From the trilithon entrance, a corridor leads to a central area which contains three apses. Part of the temple&#39;s floor has also survived at the back of the site.</p><br>
<p>The rest of the structure was destroyed over the years, as the area was leveled due to being used for agricultural purposes.</p><br>
<h2>Excavations and recent history</h2><br>
<p>Buġibba Temple was discovered by the Maltese archaeologist Themistocles Zammit in the 1920s, when he discovered large stones in a field close to Qawra Point. These remains were included on the Antiquities List of 1925, as "the megalithic remains on the side of the road to Qawra point". The temple was excavated in 1928 by Zammit and L. J. Upton Way, and was again surveyed in 1952. Two years later, in 1954, some minor excavations were made to ascertain the chronology of the temple.</p><br>
<p>During the excavations, two decorated stone blocks were found. One is a carved square block that was an altar, and the other is a rectangular block with carved fish on two of its faces. These blocks are now in the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta.</p><br>
<p>The temple&#39;s capstone was also replaced in modern times.</p><br>
<p>Eventually, the Dolmen Resort Hotel was built around the temple, which was incorporated into the grounds of the hotel close to its swimming pools.</p><br>
<p>Telecommunications House is a heritage-listed former clubhouse and now office building at 283 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is also known as Corbett Chambers. It was designed by Claude William Chambers and built from 1906 to 1909 and was further extended. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 5 April 2004.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>This building was erected in 1906-07 as headquarters and clubrooms for the Commercial Travellers Association (CTA) of Queensland.</p><br>
<p>The Commercial Travellers Association of Queensland was formed in 1884. It was the fourth such organisation started in Australia, the first being in Adelaide in the 1870s. Commercial travellers were an integral part of the retailing process in early Queensland. Most businesses employed them. They travelled all over the colony, showing samples of goods to retailers in isolated towns and conveying orders to the suppliers. They saw themselves as "advance agents", spreading "the blessings and decencies of civilization".</p><br>
<p>Since its inception, the CTA had met in hotels, but between 1904 and 1906 the association acquired property in Elizabeth Street for a purpose-built headquarters and club rooms. The building was designed by prominent Brisbane architect Claude William Chambers, who had established in Brisbane a respected commercial practice which was extended to Sydney in 1915. His known commercial buildings from this period include the Finney Isles & Co Building (The Big Block) and Perry House in Brisbane&#39;s central business district, and the first Winchcombe Carson Woolstores at Teneriffe. Between 1901 and 1915 he was twice president of the Queensland Institute of Architects, and was president of the Australian Institute of Architects 1916 to 1918. He resided mainly in Sydney from 1915, but remained in partnership in Brisbane with Lange Leopold Powell 1911-20 and Eric Marshall Ford 1920-35.</p><br>
<p>The CTA Building was completed in mid-1907 and was opened officially by the Chief Justice of Queensland in August that year. It contained a "handsome dining hall" and bar on the ground floor, bedrooms for the accommodation of members, and a roof garden. A mansard roof and tower were removed at a later date, possibly when increased accommodation was being constructed.</p><br>
<p>The CTA ranked amongst the most prominent of Brisbanes special interest associations, although membership was not confined to commercial travellers. With permanent headquarters, the club became a focal point for member interests and business. The association provided a variety of services to its members, including in 1914-15 the provision of a purpose-built Sample Rooms Building, now demolished, on an adjacent site fronting Charlotte Street, acquired in 1913. The CTA negotiated discounts for commercial travellers at hotels throughout the state, and was affiliated with the United Travellers Association of Australasia. As well, it provided services such as mortuary funds, accident and sickness insurance funds, assistance with loans, scholarships for members children, savings funds, allowances for needy members, and an employment register for out of work commercial travellers.</p><br>
<p>The Charlotte Street sample rooms did not prove to be as revenue-producing as anticipated. In consequence, in 1926, the CTA decided to erect as a leasing venture, a four-storeyed building on the Elizabeth Street section of the site they had acquired in 1913, which ran through to Charlotte Street between the CTA club rooms and the St Stephens School, Brisbane. The new building, formerly known as Hesketh House, and now demolished, replaced a winter garden, established by the CTA when the sample rooms fronting Charlotte Street were erected, and was connected with the 1906-07 building at each level. The dining room and associated facilities were moved to the basement of the new building, leaving room in the old one for additional bedrooms.</p><br>
<p>Changing retail practice, prompted by improvements in transport and communications led to a decline in CTA membership after the Second World War. In 1949 the CTA sold the 1914-15 sample rooms block and the 1927-28 building to the Commonwealth of Australia, which used them to house the Engineering Branch of the Post Master Generals Department. In 1963, the CTA also sold the 1906-07 building to the Commonwealth. It was renamed Telecommunications House and occupied as offices of the PMGs marketing and commercial section. The PMG (Telecom after 1975) was located there until 1991.</p><br>
<p>In 2009, the building was purchased and restored by the Corbett family. They renamed the building Corbett Chambers.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>Telecommunications House is located on Elizabeth Street adjacent to the grounds of the St Stephens complex. It is a four-storey building with a basement, constructed of red face brick with contrasting cream rendered features on its facade.</p><br>
<p>The street facade is five arched bays wide, organised around a central bay emphasised by a ground floor entry portico, a second floor balcony, and a parapet level Classical pediment. The ground floor portico consisting of a central triangular pediment flanked by scroll- like brackets is supported by paired Tuscan columns, and the balcony above is supported on paired unfluted Composite columns. Paired brick pilasters, followed by paired, rendered Corinthian ones continue the vertical emphasis to the arch below parapet level.</p><br>
<p>On each side of the central bay the openings are all arched with keystones, and although they house windows at the ground floor level, form arcaded verandahs on the upper three levels. The arcaded upper levels have wrought iron balustrades with the initials CTA located centrally, apart from the second floor central balcony which has balustrading similar to that on the parapet.</p><br>
<p>The pediment at parapet level has an ornate central moulding of the CTA crest. Behind the facade the levels above the ground floor are recessed, previously providing a light well adjoining Hesketh House (now demolished). The northern face of the building is plainly rendered and has predominantly square openings apart from a couple of arched ones.</p><br>
<p>Internally the building was linked with neighbouring Hesketh House when it was constructed, and these links remained at the front of the building on the ground floor and two of the upper levels until Hesketh House was demolished. Some sections of ornate plaster ceiling and a pilaster capital remain towards the rear of the ground floor. Timber beams and columns are still evident on the level below the top floor. The interior is currently divided into a number of private offices.</p><br>

<p>The former Telecommunications House was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 5 April 2004 having satisfied the following criteria.</p><br>

<p>Telecommunications House is important for its aesthetic characteristics including the deeply modelled facade of contrasting face brickwork and rendered classical details. The building makes a strong contribution to the streetscape, being complementary in scale and design to the GPO buildings opposite and the neighbouring St Stephens complex.</p><br>
<p>The place has a special association with the life or work of a particular person, group or organisation of importance in Queensland&#39;s history.</p><br>
<p>Telecommunications House is important for its special association with the operations of the Commercial Travellers Association, a significant commercial association in Queensland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and for its association with C W Chambers as a good example of his commercial work.</p><br>

<p>Blue Lake, an almost-round lake, has a surface area of 33.76 acre. This lake is south of Sebring, Florida, and inside the southeast part of Highlands Hammock State Park. The area immediately surrounding it is rural, but there are housing developments scattered through the area in which the lake is located.</p><br>
<p>Blue Lake provides public access along its entire shore. The public is allowed to access Highlands Hammock State Park and therefore Blue Lake daily from dawn to dusk. There are no boat ramps or swimming areas along the lake shore, but it can be fished from the shore. There is no information about the types of fish in this lake. A parking area and four shelter houses with picnic tables are on the northwest side of Blue Lake.</p><br>
<p>Sometimes this lake is confused with another Blue Lake, which is located just north of Lake Placid, Florida, further south and also in Highlands County.</p><br>
